Description
The multi-million, 420,000 sf integrated outpatient and inpatient Center fosters both a holistic approach to care and collaboration between basic research and physician scientists. Connected to Indiana University Hospital, the five-story facility represents a collaboration between IU School of Medicine and Clarian Health to expand resources in cancer-related patient care, research, and medical education—consolidating all oncology services, including radiation oncology, clinics, infusion therapy, radiology, surgery and inpatient beds into a multi-disciplinary setting. This approach gives patients access to IU Simon Cancer Center’s world-class specialists and innovative therapies—an important consideration for oncology patients as they may need to visit a radiation oncologist, surgeon, medical oncologist and psychotherapist simultaneously during their treatment. Similarly, physicians, nurses and other professionals have the opportunity to attend both inpatient and ambulatory patients throughout their treatment process in the same technologically advanced environment.
Clarian’s vision for a family focused model of care includes all private patient rooms, sized large enough to provide space within each room for family caregivers and overnight stays. Also included on each inpatient floor are staff sanctuary spaces, where nurses and staff are encouraged to get away, if only for a few minutes, in a tranquil relaxing space. In addition to the full range of diagnostic and treatment destinations within the facility, amenities such as a family resource center, retail, food service, meditation rooms, education space and exterior gardens are incorporated throughout to address the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of patients, families, and staff.
