Description
Developed to consolidate the academic programs and student life activities of two former satellite campuses, Niagara College’s Glendale Campus serves 2,500 students on a 50-acre campus. The three-story main academic building includes classrooms, labs, offices, cafeteria, gymnasium, Student and Learning Resource Centres, enclosing a central courtyard that provides a focus for student life. Main corridors, developed as arcades, enjoy clear views of the Niagara Escarpment. Sensitively designed to retain natural features, the site is used as a “living lab” for the college’s horticultural program.
Following the academic building, Cannon Design was again retained to design a 210-bed student residence and, most recently, the Niagara College Hospitality and Tourism Centre—home to the Niagara Culinary Institute, which supports specialized academic programs in hospitality and tourism, and serves as a discovery centre for the culinary arts.
