In an effort to equip students to compete on the international stage, the Ministry of Education updated its educational program and commissioned Cannon Design, in association with OA + D and educational consultant Fielding Nair, to develop a prototype high-school plan for implementation at three schools. Upon completion, the new campuses will feature athletic fields, track and field facilities, cricket ovals and swimming pool. Previously, these types of facilities were not easily accessible to the communities of the Eastern districts of the Islands. One campus features a 34,442 sf gymnasium designed for international competition accommodating nearly 2,000 stadium spectators and 3,000 for assembly and can also host netball, basketball, volleyball and indoor cricket. Other campuses offer smaller field houses with an attached 25 m swimming pool deck intended for community use.
