Description
A joint venture of Louisiana State University with the Research Institute at Children’s Hospital, the 59,000 sf research and education building is comprised of three floors of research laboratories, grouped in flexible and efficient modules. Located in New Orleans’ historic uptown district, the facility faces the city’s famed Audubon Park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and captures views of the Mississippi River beyond. The design reinterprets the existing materials vocabulary of the hospital complex exterior in a new, fresh expression that establishes a distinctive identity for the Institute and evokes both the spirit of Children’s Hospital and the optimism of new research initiatives.
