Lynne Deninger, AIA, LEED AP, Associate Principal
Jeffrey Turner, Brailsford & Dunlavey
Chris Shisler, California Polytechnic University, Pomona
This session will discuss the importance of housing master planning in the repositioning of existing residence halls and building reuse strategies, providing effective space for current and future student needs. The panel will empower campus-decision makers to:
• Hold firm on large goals and plans, even in a limited economy, through more economical and sustainable avenues such as renovating or repurposing buildings;
• Continue pursuing master plans;
• Maximize budgets through strategic renovations and consider building additions instead of new construction.
The current economic climate demands identifying efficient and effective strategies to utilize campus resources. Experts in the development of residential master plans, panel participants will identify viable opportunities and strategies to maximize the benefits of renovating existing buildings instead of new buildings to maximize budget dollars.
